I know it is rather ironic that I’ve been posting Blogger Updates on my WordPress blog. In case you are curious, I do have another blog on Blogger, check out www.simplykatherine.com.
Just a short notification for those who are bloggers on Blogger. After upgrading the heading formatting and search preferences, I also noticed that Blogger is adding more features for search engine optimization.
Such changes reflect the maturity of Google’s behavior in its updates, unlike Facebook with its overwhelming, unsettling Timeline change.
Two more updates for SEO:
- Now you can add alt text and title text to your images. When you add an image, simply click on it and you will see the option to edit your image’s properties (see the screenshot below). Click properties and the rest is quite self-explanatory.
- The next one is the NoFollow Link option when you add a new link. I think the most important use of this feature is when you do not want crawlers to leave your blog post by going to that outbound link. This strategy is called crawler prioritization.
Google vs. Facebook
It’s great! Blogger has been including some of the basic SEO features without revamping their usability. This is very important because users can be gradually brought into significant upgrades without having to step out of their comfort zone. Such changes reflect the maturity of Google’s behavior in its updates, unlike Facebook with its overwhelming, unsettling Timeline change.
